Revised plans

The Proposal

  • MACC Group proposes to redevelop the Former Day Centre for a Care Home and Sheltered Apartments
  • The site is allocated for housing development in the Local Plan under site reference 141
  • The proposals will retain almost all of the trees around the site’s boundaries, as well as providing new landscaped areas and secure gardens for residents
  • A revised shared access will be provided for the new development and Caretaker’s Shop
  • The Planning Application 22/00004/FUL was submitted on 21 December 2021 and has already been consulted upon by the Council

The Revised Scheme

  • A Revised Scheme was submitted in June 2022 that sought to link the 90 bed Care Home to the 32 sheltered apartment block to address feedback on design and heritage
  • The Revised Design provides for the Care Home & Apartments in a single building, linked through the addition of a bistro that will provide a communal facility for residents/guests/visitors
  • The elevations have also been revised in response to feedback from the Council to reinforce a two storey appearance along the frontage
  • 73 parking spaces are proposed including accessible spaces, alongside dedicated minibus bay and ambulance bay and cycle parking spaces for staff and residents. The whole development will provide care and sheltered accommodation that attracts lower levels of car ownership than general housing schemes.
  • The design has ensured that the Care Home and Apartments will be located away from neighbouring properties with separation distances exceeding the Council’s guidance.
